I started out in the healthcare field in 1986 and remained for 14 years, until my 13th year into it, then realized my interests had changed. My last year (2000) in the healthcare industry made me realize that at some point I will reach a retirement stage, and after looking at what I’ve done thus far in preparing for my retirement, I was not adequately planned for it. That prompted me to decide that I should change my career path to the financial planning field, for 2 reasons: One, I will be in a better position to plan for my own retirement. Two, there are many others out there with similar situation like I was – not adequately prepared for their retirement, and therefore, I can also provide help to those that are in need.
I have spent more than 20 years serving as a financial advisor, and looking back at this second half of my career, it is very rewarding. I have helped many people from the start of planning to working toward their financial goals so they could enjoy their time in their golden years, that is priceless. Moreover, I have had the great privileges to get to know so many more wonderful people that led to long lasting friendships.
Looking back at my lifelong experiences, and from my own, I realize that we will not able to achieve our goals without proper planning. The old adage says “if we fail to plan, we are automatically plan to fail”.
